Therefore, the educational migration from Malabar was a turning point not only for the wellbeing of Muslim community but also for the history of Malabar. From the very medieval age itself, Malabar especially Muslim community witnessed an immense desire in its intelligentsia to travel abroad like Mecca and Medina, and Cairo as well as it wholeheartedly accepted Sayyids of Tarem of Hadrmout and assigned to them the core roles of political and religious leaderships of the community. Cultural transactions sharing some cultural ethics and ways of life played a vital role in defining the development of a community. Migration for the purpose of education in Malabar was a process which led to many far-reaching socio-cultural developments and also some kind of impacts as years rolled by. It is hoped that the commemoration of these classical texts would help the scholars attain an inspiring motive to divert their focus over this field too.Īs a phenomena, migrations cause to no little transformations of a community in its way forward. This paper would be an attempt to shed light on few prose works of Arabi-malayalm giving a special reference into religious texts. In addition to these books a number of periodicals and journals were produced in this language by those times. Besides these religious texts, these works were extended into science, medical, engineering, laws, stories, novels, grammar, history, and other fields too.It is the cause of pride for us that the renowned classics of world stories and novels suchlike Amir Hamza, char darvez, Shamsussaman, Alf laila valila and so on where published in this language even before the first novel in Malayalam was published. As Arabi-Malayalam was formed to propagate ideology of Islam, most of early works were translations of holy Quran and other religious texts, like the Thafseer of Mayan kutty Elea. In this context, this is a small endeavor to throw light into prose writings of Arabi-Malayalam which had a valuable role in reconstructing the culture of Mappilas. The poetic works are subjected to deep and wide discussions while proses are ignored always. Arabi-Malayalam has a rich collection of literal works which can be classified as poems and proses.
